The strobilanthes kunthianus — the kurinji — is block printed across the pallu in soft sage and grey. Toda diamond motifs are scattered across the cloth alongside floral motifs on the pallu, with Toda embroidery running along all edges — the geometric language of the Toda indigenous community, worked in red and navy by our Toda women artisans.
Crafted from custom-woven fine linen, the fabric is light, airy and fluid, draping beautifully against the body. Sold without a blouse.
Each saree is a long labour of hand — made in limited numbers.
This piece is part of Nilgiri Flora · Three Flowers — our first exploration of block print and Toda embroidery meeting in cloth, two crafts brought together for the first time by these mountains.
